Although summer for school teachers officially begun nearly 3 weeks ago, I am just now able to enjoy the time off. From taking 2 graduate classes the first two weeks and going on a short "parent conference" vacation (that would be one the trips that do not include the child), I am finally home with MC. It's typically during her nap times that I can pursue all the wonderful adventures I was so fond of prior to having kids, you know, reading a book- the kind with no rhyming words or pictures- cleaning a house, gardening, building things, and of course sky-diving. Well, not really the last one, but it sounds much cooler that the actual list of "pre-baby" activities. In my desire to be "crafty" today, I thought it would be logical to create something more useful to MC.
I've recently noticed that while I pull MC's hair back everyday, we do not have the appropriate bows to coordinate with the outfits. More importantly we don't have bows that can be seen from a passing Delta plane overhead. That all changed today! I pulled out the old craft bins that have been collecting dust under our guest bedroom and collected appropriate materials for bow-making and crafted away! I must have lost some of my crafting tough because I suffered a burn to one of my fingers from the hot glue gun... I guess I must have thrown away the instruction manual on how to properly use a glue gun a while ago. I do vaguely remember the line "HOT! Do not let the glue touch your skin or it will melt off your finger"
Although I have suffered minor injuries from today's crafting venture, I think I will continue my bow-making. Frankly, I don't have much of a choice, with 2 sisters, BOTH of which have little girls, I am bound by law (that's sister law, not actual Law and Order law) to make three of each bow that turns out successful. While I would like to pursue the wonderful art of blogging, I'm begining to suffer from motion sickness. MC is laughing as she is spinning the lazy boy chair asking me to read yet another book- Oh, she says she's a pirate and I'm in her boat. She's rocking me... how sweet
